On November 27th, 2024, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie received the Harper’s Bazaar España’s Woman of the Year award in Literature. She was honored with the prize because of her remarkable contributions to storytelling and cultural advocacy. With her powerful narrative and her ability to explore profound themes of identity, race or feminism. A celebration of her ability to inspire and transform global thinking through literature, as well as her commitment to the major social issues of our time. She also delivered an acceptance speech in Madrid, saying: “Through literature, we learn what matters to people, what they love, what they respect, what threats they feel, what they regret, how egos are formed. Those things matter. Stories matter.”
